About Me

Cheryl Rutherford sitting outside, on a stack of hay in a family photoCheryl Rutherford is a native Texan and is married with a blended family including three children ages 24, 32, and 41 as well as five grandchildren.  A lot of the experience she brings to the counseling relationship has been earned through tough personal challenges and choices and the restoring work of Jesus Christ and His Word, as well as working the past 15 years with individuals of all ages over 8, married couples in crisis or in marriage preparation, and families blended or otherwise.  Her private practice is on Main Street in Grapevine, Texas.

Cheryl loves to work with individuals who are stuck in some area of their lives.  Toxic thinking, cycles and behaviors can detour most people from enjoying the best life possible and processing what those roadblocks may be and working through them is a powerful key to unlocking potential in relationships with God, self and others.  Her heart is for married people struggling in their relationships.  Blending families is one of the toughest challenges of our times and there are some great helps for this challenge that many of us face.  Family of origin issues sometimes set us up for triggering negativity in many areas that keep us from being free to love and live well with the person we have chosen to do life with.  In just a few visits, doing some intentional homework, insight begins to help us understand where the challenges really come from and what those roots are that need to be addressed.

Her prior professional experience was in the business world - commercial real estate - and she brings that experience to help others prioritize their personal and professional schedule and goals to be able to live the fullest life available to them.  Working Moms and Dads have a special challenge in this area to provide healthy environments and experiences for their precious children.

Cheryl has over 15 years experience as a marriage and family therapist, she has worked with adolescents in a hospital setting, as well as individuals on an out patient basis and long term therapy.   Her goal is to bring health and healing to each member of the family from children to the geriatric community.

Mrs. Rutherford is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. Her commitment is to bring healing and hope through a strong perspective of grace.  Her focus on cognitive and behavioral therapy in conjunction with biblically based counseling creates a path for understanding and growth.

Cheryl is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
